Just sitting here, bleebling to myself in a corner, because, frankly, trying to pass comment on the contemporary scene is like watching a car crash in slow motion over and over again.

It's not for me to comment on government policy
I cannot resist one last little passage from Sir Humphrey.
Sir H's comments made me chuckle and they really evoke wonderful and exasperating memories of my time in the Civil Service!
For £7,000 of "wasted" taxpayers' money read £7m+ wasted on Consultants' fees and expertise(?); Private Finance Initiative(s) (PFI) introduction of work procedures geared toward manufacturing of 'spark plugs' rather than deal with people and general deskilling of the work force within the Civil Service - So Thank you so much T. Blair, G. Brown and A. Darling - and apologies for sounding off (slightly), Innocent, but the whole ethos of "things can only get better!" (YouTube and D.ream anyone?) circa 1997 et seq - makes me very angry and you wouldn't like me when I'm angry......!!
